Therese is a freelance designer, who specializes in designing websites with css, and incorporating cost-effective open source solutions whenever possible. As much as Therese values creative, unique websites, she also takes great pride in writing her own code by hand, enabling her to have control and understanding of how her websites are viewed by search engines.

She Learned From The Geeks

Therese realizes that no one will be looking at the "back" of your website, except for the most important entity of all: search engines! If there is one thing Therese has learned from her bevy of geek mentors, it is that Search Engine Optimization really means following web standards and practices that make your website and blog accessible to everyone, including search engines.

Marketing Objectives Guide Her Designs

Therese did not go to college to learn web design, instead, she studied at the the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Her study of marketing and economics provides a valuable set of skills that aide Therese and her clients in designing a website that meets the client's marketing objectives.

Often when working with start-ups and small businesses, it can be a case where designing the website can lead to the refinement of a business and marketing plan for that company. "It is impossible to produce an effective website that meets marketing objectives without a business plan and a solid marketing plan in place," Therese says. "Part of my process is helping the client set objectives and goals before a single image is ever designed."
